The preliminary written examination for the appointment of junior civil judges in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States was held peacefully on Sunday. Police arrested advocates who tried to obstruct the exam at Meerpet in Hyderabad and Warangal.

About 8,000 candidates appeared for the written test conducted for filling up 97 posts. The examination was conducted in Hyderabad, Warangal, Tirupati, Vijyawada and Visakhapatnam centres.

The police made tight security arrangements at the examination centres as the advocates in Telangana have opposed the conduct of the test without bifurcating the High Court. They have expressed fears that injustice would be done to the candidates from Telangana, if the test was conducted without bifurcating the High Court.
