YSR Congress president Y.S Jaganmohan Reddy on Tuesday warned the government against being indifferent in solving the problems of the APSRTC employees and threatened of a State wide strike on their behalf.
Mr Jaganmohan Reddy, who is on a four-day tour of the district to console families of farmers who committed suicide, went to the Anantapur APSRTC bus stand and expressed his solidarity with the striking employees.
“The YSRC fully supports judicious demands of the APSRTC employees. We will stand by you. It has been seven days since the strike. Let us wait for another four days. If the government doesn’t solve the issues, the YSRC will give a State-wide bandh call and fight on your behalf,” said Mr Jaganmohan Reddy.

He accused the State government and especially Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of making false promises to the APSRTC employees prior to elections while choosing to conveniently shelve all promises after coming to power. “Mr. Naidu, during April 2014, made a promise to the APSRTC employees that, if he comes to power, he would absorb APSRTC into the government services, increase the pay scales of the employees on par with the government employees. But he does not even seem to be bothered in spite of the fact that the strike has been going on for seven days,” Mr Jaganmohan Reddy said.
Mr Jaganmohan Reddy, who spent more than half an hour with the striking employees, spoke to employees and enquired about the other problems being faced by APSRTC and its employees. He was accompanied by former MP Ananta Venkatrami Reddy, and YSRC MLA Y Visweswar Reddy.
