Port-led growth helps generate jobs in Nellore district: Chinta

Hundreds of Congress activists led by senior leader Chinta Mohan staged a demonstration in Gudur town in protest against the ‘inordinate delay’ in fulfilling the main bifurcation promises of a sea port at Dugarajapatnam and the Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh.

Leading the protest at the busy Clock Tower centre, the former MP from Tirupati said Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, who had promised the people of Gudur division to achieve the SCS if his party was given the maximum number of MP seats and also bring to fruition the long pending sea port project, should convince the Centre to implement the twin promises which formed the basis for division of A.P. “Without SCS, the State will not see any significant economic activity,” he felt.

The unemployment problem could be resolved only when port-led development picked up pace in Nellore district, he said.
