Jagan rules out support to Congress

May 10, 2014 12:30 am | Updated 12:34 am IST - HYDERABAD:

‘We will win 25 MP seats first and then think over whether to support Narendra Modi or any other Tom, Dick or Harry’, Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy

YSR Congress Party president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy has reiterated that his party will keep all options open on the issue of supporting a coalition to form the government at the Centre.

In a statement issued here on Friday, he criticised reports in a section of the media stating that they were giving individual and imaginary versions by distorting the YSR Congress stand on the issue though he had categorically explained the party stand during the electioneering.

Support to the Congress was ruled out since it had divided State undemocratically and irrationally and they would think on extending support in case of any non-Congress parties and coalitions. “We will win 25 MP seats first and then think over whether to support Narendra Modi or any other Tom, Dick or Harry,” Mr. Jagan Reddy said. However, a section of the media had been giving distorted and imaginary conclusion to his views.

The party would play a vital role in the formation of the next Government at the Centre after winning 25 MP seats in Seemandhra. The party would uphold the pride of Telugu people and would not surrender the interests of Seemandhra to Delhi’s diktat as being planned by TDP chief N. Chandrababu Naidu, he said.

While Mr. Naidu had been seeking votes in the name of Mr. Modi, the YSR Congress had sought the support on the Telugu pride plank, he stated.
