The district police have procured a fully-equipped interceptor vehicle to keep a close vigil on traffic rule violations that result in serious road accidents.

The newly-acquired vehicle is equipped with speed laser gun and a breath analyser kit. With this, the staff on the vehicle can get a precise record of the speed of a particular vehicle plying on city roads.

The interceptor, which was launched during the recent visit of Guntur Range IG N. Sanjay, would also be used to keep a tab on the moving vehicles on the national highway.

Explaining about the utility of the new vehicle, SP Gajarao Bhupal said that the staff, who had undergone special training sessions, would be operating the special equipment available in the interceptor. Two SIs, four constables and two drivers are attached with the vehicle.

There will be speed gun operators and breath analyser operators to move with the vehicle round the clock.

The use of this vehicle is stated to be part of the government’s drive to provide modern and well-equipped fleet to the police to enable them maintaining law and order and road safety.
