Inter girl commits suicide

An Intermediate student, Yoganandini (17) of Punganur town, reportedly committed suicide by self-immolation at her residence on Thursday night. According to the local police, the girl resorted to the extreme step as she was unable to cope with studies. When her parents were away, the girl had doused herself with kerosene and torched herself. The neighbours, who saw smoke billowing out from the windows, rushed to the house and broke open the doors to save her. However, she had already been charred to death. A case was registered, and the body was sent for autopsy. The girl’s father works at the local court.
