The Information Technology Industry Association of Andhra Pradesh has prepared a route map to accelerate the growth of IT and IT-enabled services industry in the State.

The ITsAP executive committee submitted a 10-point report to make the State a leader in the IT and ITeS sectors by taking advantage of the talent available, world-class infrastructure and congenial business eco-system, to the Minister for IT Ponnala Laxmaiah on Thursday.

At a meeting with the Minister, the committee members emphasised that the interest shown by potential investors at the recently held IT event, Advantage AP 2012, be diligently pursued to close the investment proposals.
As the IT investments in Tier II cities have not been happening as envisaged, a dedicated official at the Secretary level should be nominated to finalise the proposals and an action plan to make smaller cities attractive destinations for the sector.

A fast-track and direct single window clearance system, including land allotment, would go a long way in attracting fresh investors. All the stakeholders like APIIC, HMDA and other industry departments be co-opted for this, they said.
Special incentives, tariff concessions and offers of package deals with software and hardware infrastructure would help in clinching new investments.
Talent development
The committee called for measures to get approval for the proposed IT Investment Region around Hyderabad and talent development training and apprenticeship programmes to improve employability of a large number of engineering graduates in the State. Faculty development was another important area of focus.
Improved airline services, setting up incubation centres and rural BPOs were some other priorities, the report said.
