Let worthy leaders take a chance to give better service to people, says MP

YSR Congress party leaders and cadres arrived in good numbers to stage a dharna in front of the superintending engineer’s office in protest against the electricity surcharge and ‘huge power bills’ being slapped on the people.

YSRC MP from Nellore Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy, who took part in the dharna, said that the increased electricity bills these days were making the common man’s life miserable. The poor families were shocked at the huge bills being received by the electricity staff and this should be addressed immediately.

Mr. Rajamohan Reddy described the crisis in power sector as a result of the failure of the present government. “If you cannot protect the interests of the poor people in the State, you should step down. Let worthy leaders take a chance to give better service to the people. This crisis cannot go on deepening,” he added.

Stating that all segments of consumers were feeling the heat due to high power bills, Mr. Rajamohan Reddy said that an average poor family’s burden due to the power bills increased from Rs. 60 per month to Rs. 600 these days. This was something the poor cannot bear considering their meagre income, he added. A considerable number of party activists from different parts of the city took part in the dharna.
