Over 1,500 Village Organising Assistants of Indira Kranti Patham (IKP) on Wednesday accused the government of harassing them by stopping their wages and other benefits despite a heavy load of work. They took out a massive rally to the Srikakulam Collectorate, demanding an immediate solution to their problems. Speaking on the occasion, CITU leaders D. Govinda Rao and M. Tirupati Rao said the government should pay the pending salary of the last 16 months and implement the Abhaya insurance scheme for VROs.
IKP workers alleged that political leaders were harassing them in villages, as they were strictly following government norms for implementing various schemes.
Meanwhile, VOAs laid siege to Prakasam Bhavan in Ongole on Wednesday as part of their 48-hour protest demanding release of pending salaries.

“It is unfortunate that the State government has not conceded the VROs’ just demand even after 55 days of protest,” CITU district secretary G. Srinivas said.
