Actor and YSRCP leader R.K. Roja, who was re-elected from Nagari Assembly constituency, said on Saturday that she turned out to be a good luck charm for the party. Talking to the media here, Ms. Roja said, “I was dubbed as an ‘iron leg’, one that brought bad luck. I proved to be a ‘golden leg’ instead.”
Ms. Roja, who was president of the TDP Mahila wing, had been defeated in 2009. The TDP too lost that year. Since then, she was branded as an “iron leg.”
She quit the TDP in August 2009 and joined the YSRCP immediately.

The party gave her ticket to contest from Nagari in 2014, and she won. But the YSRCP fared poorly and did not form the government.
“As I was giving the TDP a good fight, it tried to brand me as an ‘iron leg’. But I have proved to be a ‘golden leg’ with the unprecedented victory of the YSRCP,” she said.
