“It was an unfortunate incident. I lost patience and threw a water bottle at Kothapeta YSRCP MLA, Chirla Jaggireddy during the Zilla Parishad meeting on May 24. As a responsible person, I assure you all that it will not be repeated in future,” said Reddy Subrahmanyam, Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Council.
Participating in a “Meet the Press” programme arranged by the Rajamahendravaram Press Club here on Wednesday, Mr. Subrahmanyam said that he reacted only after Mr. Jaggrireddy hurled papers at him and used unparliamentary language.

The MLA also made a baseless allegation that he is having a share in sand corruption in the Kothapeta constituency, particularly in the Podagatlapalli reach.
The Deputy Chairman declared that he was ready to resign if anyone, including the MLA, proved charges against him. He is going to explain to his supporters as well as people of the constituency about what happened at the ZP meeting by arranging a meeting on Thursday.
He demanded that Mr. Reddy admit that he also committed a mistake by throwing papers at a constitutional functionary.

Replying to a question, Mr. Subrahmanyam said he was in protocol disputes many a time because he was very particular about its implementation.
He recalled that he approached the Privileges Committee of the Assembly over the non-implementation of protocol in Tirumala. “There are no enemies in politics, only opponents. As a Deputy Chairman, I am doing justice to my job,” he added.
