Andhra Pradesh NGOs’ Association State President P. Ashok Babu on Saturday found fault with the Hyderabad district Collector’s order to ‘accommodate’ Telangana employees in the AP NGOs’ office which, he said, belonged to the employees of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.).
Speaking to media persons, he said the AP NGOs’ office was built by the contributions of the employees of the 13 districts of A.P. and the 50-odd Telangana employees, mostly Head of the Departments, who were given membership in the AP NGOs’ Association, were using their clout to take over the office situated at prime location.
“Both A.P. and Telangana employees have their own, separate NGO offices. A section of the Telangana employees who were given membership in the AP NGOs’ Association are playing dirty tricks and creating problems with the help of the State government,” he said.

He said the Collector had no right to interfere with private property. “We will take up this issue with the Central government to counter the designs of the Telangana government. If possible, we will take to legal recourse.” Mr. Ashok said the office was not a unified asset and it would not come under the division of the assets as prescribed by the A.P. Reorganization Act. General Secretary N. Chandrasekhar Reddy welcomed the government’s decision to continue the five-day week and 30% in HRA to the employees who joined the services from Hyderabad for one more year. He asked the government to scrap the contributory pension scheme.
“Under CPS, the government and the employees are contributing 20% of the salary and investing in the share market. There is no clarity to the employees on the amount they would receive as the investment approach is speculative.”
He said 1,500 leaders representing various employees’ organisations met in New Delhi recently voicing their concern over the CPS and demanded implementation of the old pension system. He thanked the A.P. government for implementing the gratuity scheme.

Contract employees’ services
Mr. Reddy also demanded regularisation of contract workers. “Though the contract employees were regularised by the Telangana and Punjab governments, the effort was stalled by the respective High Courts. It is better to approach Parliament and bring out an act to prevent legal hurdles.” He said though the A.P. government had issued a GO to enhance the salary of the contract workers by 50%, there was no clarity in the implementation.
Mr. Reddy said the APNGOs’ annual general meeting would be held in Tirupati on August 30 and 31.
