East Godavari district Superintendent of Police Vishal Gunni on Thursday announced paid holidays to home guards on their birthday and wedding anniversary. He asked the officials concerned to take steps for implementing the orders immediately.
Addressing the 56th Home Guard Raising Day Parade here, he commended the services of home guards on a par with the police personnel and said that both belonged to the same family. “More or less, the duties remained same for the police and the home guards, as the latter are being deputed for VIP security, traffic, crime, intelligence and other duties,” he observed.

Calling upon the home guards to bring their problems to his notice directly, Mr. Vishal assured them that the same would be pursued instantly.
“We are happy to note that the State government increased the honorarium for home guards from ₹12,000 to ₹18,000 a month.
“This will definitely boost the morale of the guards,” he said.

At the celebrations held at Eluru in West Godavari district, DIG T. Ravikumar Murthy and Superintendent of Police M. Ravi Prakash presented prizes to the winners of sports and games competitions conducted for home guards.
They called upon the home guards to discharge their duties with dedication and always be available to public.
