Directs the producers of the Telugu film Denikaina Ready to take steps to remove the prefixes Padma Shri for actors Mohan Babu and Brahmanandam in all the copies.

A Division Bench of High Court comprising Chief Justice Kalyan Jyothi Sengupta and Justice P.V. Sanjay Kumar on Monday directed the producers of the Telugu film Denikaina Ready to take steps to remove the prefixes Padma Shri for actors Mohan Babu and Brahmanandam in all the copies.

It was perusing the arguments put forth in the writ petition filed by senior BJP leader N. Indrasena Reddy, seeking a direction to the Union of India to cancel or annul the award of Padma Shri conferred upon the two film artistes.

He contended that they used the title for promotion of the film.

Taking serious note, the Bench had hinted to the actors that they might as well surrender their awards to the Union of India and posted the matter for Monday .

The Judges said that all the copies available with the exhibitors and distributors should be recalled and steps taken to remove the prefix against their names from the original.

The case has been adjourned to facilitate Mohan Babu to file an affidavit to explain the relation between him and the producers of the film.

When the counsel for Brahmanandam argued that he had sent letters to the producers to remove the suffix, the Bench wanted to know how these letters were sent and asked him to file a detailed affidavit.
