Gazetted officers beware, ACB on your trail!

December 07, 2014 10:04 pm | Updated 10:04 pm IST - TIRUPATI:

Trouble seems to be in store for the gazetted officers, as the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is now keen on catching the ‘bigger sharks’ of corruption.

While the department has drawn flak for trapping only the lower-rung employees and making them scapegoats in corruption and bribery cases, the new idea seems to be the part of the image makeover exercise.

“We have decided to focus more on corruption at the gazetted officer level,” says A. Sankar Reddy, Deputy Superintendent of Police of ACB ,Tirupati range, covering Chittoor and Kadapa districts. The target for this year is to bring gazetted officers involved in corruption to book,” he adds.

Admitting that gazetted officials make good their escape, leaving behind the lower-rung staff in the dragnet, the official said that common man seething with anger would be taken as the first clue and the trail would naturally lead to the corrupt officials. Speaking to

The Hindu during the “Anti-Corruption Week” celebrations that began on Wednesday, Mr. Reddy invited whistle-blowers to share information on the corruption. The ACB DSP can be contacted at 9440446190 or acbdsptirupati@gmail.com.
