Ganja smuggler gets 14-year jail term

Judge also slaps ₹1 lakh fine on convict

Metropolitan Sessions court Judge S. Nagarjuna on Monday sentenced a ganja smuggler for 14 years imprisonment. He also slapped a fine of ₹1 lakh on the convict.

The judge also announced that if the convict did not pay the fine amount, the imprisonment will be enhanced by a year. The accused was identified as Saaripalli Nookaraju (27), Yetigairammapeta village of Golugonda mandal in Visakhapatnam Agency. As per reports, on April 3, 2017, S. Nookaraju was caught by Kothakota Police when he was transporting about 627 kg of ganja in a car near Kothakota area via Rologunta from Chintapalle agency.

Additional public Prosecutor P.V.N. Jayalakshmi was the public prosecutor.
