Gali flays PCC chief

February 02, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:55 am IST - TIRUPATI:

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) senior leader Gali Muddukrishnama Naidu on Sunday condemned the comments made by Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president N. Raghuveera Reddy who claimed that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was not fighting for securing the special category status for the State.

It was the Congress which divided the State for political gain and promised a lot of sops for the residual AP ahead of the general elections, said Mr. Naidu.

“ The PCC chief should question his party high command as they were the ones who drafted the Bill, instead of blaming the Chief Minister,” he said.

Mr. Naidu also questioned the double standards of the Congress for fielding their candidate in Tirupati bye-election.

“Instead of respecting the tradition of handing over the role of deceased leaders to their family members , the Congress has fielded candidate just to oppose the TDP. It is a waste of government expenditure and developmental activities will be halted for nearly one month. Besides, their earlier results have been abysmal in the constituency with just 2800 votes,” he added.

Referring to the demonstrations staged by the YSR Congress, Mr. Naidu said that they were resorting to such acts just for the sake of opposing the government.
