Kurnool-based Raaga Mayuri Group has planned to set up a mega food park and an electronic park on the Andhra Padesh-Telangana border. The core food park will come up at Putandoddi in Mahabubnagar district of Telangana, 35 km away from here, while its processing centres will be set up in Kurnool, Ranga Reddy, Anantapur and Kadapa districts.
Group Chairman K.J. Reddy said that the company would invest Rs. 112 crore to create the necessary infrastructure for 50 individual units which will be engaged in various activities of food processing and value addition. “The project has already been approved by the Union Ministry of Food Processing Industries, which will provide a grant of Rs. 50 crore. The investment size of the guest companies are likely to be in the range of Rs. 2,000 crore,” he said.
As part of the infrastructure, the host company will build roads, power lines, cold storage of the capacity of 5,000 tonnes, dry godowns of 80,000 tonnes, silos of the capacity of 10,000 tonnes, testing lab, reefer vehicles, ripening chambers, a 2MW solar plant and a training centre. According to the promoters, the food park is likely to create 10,000 jobs and ensure marketing facilities for around one lakh farmers.
The food park, which would be operational by July 2017, is likely to process pulses, cereals and fruits such as mango, papaya, citrus, guava and vegetables such as tomato, brinjal, lady’s finger, onion and etc. It would also have a strategic link with the markets in Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai and Vijayawada. The guest companies could either own the land or lease it on long-term basis, it is learnt. Further, the Raaga Mayuri Group has also planned an electronic park at Kodikonda, with the facilities to manufacture LED lamps, medical and aerospace electronic components, apart from assembling of mobiles. Five companies have already hired the facility so far. The park would attract an investment of Rs. 1,000 crore.

Mr. Reddy said that the din created by bifurcation blues had subsided now and one should think of business beyond the State boundaries. “With the same spirit, we want to foray into Andhra Pradesh and Telangana,” he said.
