Focus on intercropping, Kodela tells farmers

‘Will ask legislators to donate one month’s salary’

Assembly speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao visiting Titli affected areas of Uddanam region in Srikakulam on Tuesday.

Legislative Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao on Tuesday asked farmers of Uddanam region to adopt new technology and concentrate on intercrops to generate more income.

He said that generation of income quickly was need of the hour and it would be possible when the farmers were able to follow suggestions of agricultural experts. He visited several areas, including Sirimamidi, Erramukkam, Gurudaspuram, Pallevuru and Amalapadu.

Speaking on the occasion, he assured to use his good offices for the enhancement of compensation for coconut, cashew and other crops damaged in Titli cyclone. The Speaker promised that he would convince all legislators to donate one month salary for the victims of cyclone.

Ichchapuram MLA Bendalam Ashok, Palasa MLA Gowthu Shyam Sundar Shivaji and others explained to the Speaker the damage caused in various areas in the district.

Earlier, District Collector K.Dhananjaya Reddy and Joint Collector K.V.N. Chakradhar Babu and other officials met him in Srikakulam.
