Five of a family killed in road accident

Five of a family, who were on their way to attend a close relative’s funeral rites, met with a tragic end after the autorickshaw, in which they were travelling, rammed a lorry at Chandra Tanda on Khammam-Warangal main road on Saturday.

Two women and a mother-son duo were among those killed instantly in the devastating accident.

One more person succumbed to the wounds later. Three others were hurt, one of them seriously, in the accident.

Driver escapes

The autorickshaw driver, who lost control over the vehicle, allegedly jumped off the vehicle, resulting in the tragedy.

The autorickshaw was carrying eight persons of a same family from Vissampalli in Maripeda mandal of Warangal district to Patharlapadu in Tirumalayapalem mandal.

The deceased

M Susheela, 60, Padma, 40, Aruna, 30, and her son Murali, 7, were killed on the spot. M Yadagiri, 44, son of Susheela, died while being shifted to the district headquarters hospital.

The remaining three injured were admitted to separate hospitals in Khammam.

One person critical

The condition of one of the injured was stated to be critical. According to the police, sheer negligence and rash driving of the autorickshaw driver led to the tragic accident.
