Five killed, 25 hurt in RTC bus-lorry collision

Five persons were killed and 25 bus passengers sustained severe injuries when an APSRTC bus (AP04 TU 9189) collided with a lorry near Sri Krishna Temple at Madhavarampodu in Railway Kodur mandal of Kadapa District in the early hours of Saturday.

The bus conductor K. Prabhakar, 42, and a passenger Muddalur Sudhir died instantly and the bus driver Narayana got trapped in his seat, according to the police.

Subbarayudu, 75, of Kadapa and two others succumbed to severe injuries while being shifted to Ruia Hospital at Tirupati. The lorry cabin was badly mangled and the driver and cleaner were trapped in it.

Passengers belonging to Railway Kodur, Manganpet and Rajampet areas were injured. Railway Kodur Circle Inspector Rasool Saheb and sub-inspectors Sivaprasad and Ramesh removed the bus driver who was trapped in his seat and shifted the injured to hospital.

The bus belonging to Rajampet Depot was going from Tirupati to Kadapa when the mishap took place. Railway Kodur police registered a case and are investigating.
