Amaravati Children’s Film Festival-2017 begins today

Tummalapalli Kshetrayya Kalakshetram decked up for the film festival in Vijayawada on Saturday.

For the first time, hundreds of students of various municipal and private schools in the city will be exposed to the world of cinema behind the silver screen.

The three-day Amaravati Children’s Film Festival-2017 organised by the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation in association with Safe Advisory, Ellanar Group and Kolla Entertainments, is going to begin on Sunday at Thummalapalli Kalakshetram.

In the three-day event, students will be exposed to the art of filmmaking, film appreciation workshops, and talks by filmmakers and writers.

The most important part of the event is the 48-hour challenge in which at least 100 students in teams will initially get training in filmmaking from professionals of Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, and make films based on the concepts given.

According to the organizers, a team of writers and technicians from FTII would be personally leading this challenge and also provide filmmaking equipment to the children.

On the first-day, yesteryear actor Roja Ramani, known for her roles in popular movies as a child artist, Bigg Boss fame Adarsh Balakrishna will take part in the inaugural session. Director Radha will hold film appreciation workshops for the participants and actors Tarun and Bhupal Raju will interact with children on the second day. On the third-day, actors Nikhil and Kamna Jethmalani will interact with the children.

Director Aparna Malladi and producer Raj Kandukuri will be the jury of the 48-hour film challenge and select the best movies by the end of the festival. The best film made by the children will be rewarded at the end of the festival on November 14.
