CPI(M) State secretary B.V. Raghavulu has called upon his party cadre to continue their fight against caste system and inequality in society which are hampering the development of the nation. He has also said that those who give equal status to women is called true communist and asked to follow the footsteps of Putchalapalli Sundaraiah who fought on all these issues.
Addressing the centenary celebrations of Sunadaraiah here on Thursday, Mr. Raghavulu felt that if any communist was asked to face the litmus test with the yardsticks fixed by Sundaraiah, no one in this country may pass the test. He recalled that the legendry communist leader with rural background started reforming the society from his own village by fighting against caste, though he was born in ‘Reddy’ community. He deleted his community tag at the end of his name in all official and personal records.
The CPI(M) leader was critical of giving ‘Dalita Bandhu’ title to Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy during a meeting last month here by Amalapuram MP G.V. Harsha Kumar. “How the Chief Minister is entitled to be called as Dalit Bandhu, when he does not know about how the caste discrimination is prevailing in his Chittoor district and his own constituency and how a Dalit leader like Harsha Kumar presents the title to the Chief Minister,” Mr. Raghavulu asked.

He said that inequality and caste system should go and then only the country would become super power in the world. He also stressed the importance of dignity of labour, which the capitalist US was following and China was barging ahead of others with the same principle. Midiyam Baburao, former MP and party State secretariat member, in his speech recalled the association of Sundaraiah with Rajahmundry. CPI(M) city unit secretary T.S. Prakash presided over the meeting in which district secretary D. Subbarao, party leaders Venkat, T. Arun, B. Naidu and Murthy were present.
