Farming, a cakewalk now!

At a time when agriculture has become a costly affair, many had turned their back on farming with a sigh and heavy heart. But, we see a slightly contrasting scenario in Nandigama of Medak district where farmers are eagerly waiting for one Ch. Samuel to come and help them practice a new cultivation system. Strange, but true.

Seven years ago, like many other farmers in the region, Mr. Samuel was a small holding farmer with about two acres of agricultural land. As with many farmers, farming became a burden to him. It was at this time that he came across Srivari cultivation system, which he heard would give a good yield. As he had run out of choices, he could do nothing but to embark on practicing the new system which necessitated him to share his land.

“My decision to practice the new system created ruckus in my family and my wife, Prameela, opposed me tooth and nail. She faulted me for leaving so much space between the seedlings while planting. She also did not speak to me till we got our first crop yield,” Mr. Samuel told
