Engineering student killed in accident

An engineering student Ch. Sridhar Kumar was killed and his three classmates injured when a truck rammed into the car near Petbasheerabad on Tuesday. The truck and the car were going in the same direction.

Death was instant for Sridhar Kumar, a first year student of Narsimha Reddy Engineering College in Mysammaguda, while his classmate, Ravi Kiran, who was driving the car suffered fractures on his hand.

His two other classmates Praveen and Shiva, who were sitting on the rear seat, escaped with minor injuries.

Kumar, a native of Siddipet town of Medak district was a boarder of a private hostel at Kompally, while the others live at different places in city. Kiran picked up Kumar from Kompally.

They were crossing Gundlapochampally when the tipper coming behind them hit their car from side while trying to overtake an auto-rickshaw.

“Hit by the tipper, the car banged against the median before overturning and coming under the front wheels of the tipper,” the police said. Dragged by the tipper for over 10 yards, the car turned into a piece of mangled metal.

Police had to use a hydraulic excavator to pull out the mangled car.
