Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has asked the media, particularly the newspapers, to encourage good work done either by individuals or organisations or governments by allocating some space for it.
“It’s really bad for the society if the newspapers give up such quality in their quest for sensationalism,” Mr. Rao said after launching “Mana Telangana”, a Telugu daily and its web portal, here on Sunday. He stated that as everything in the nature would come in cycles, value-based journalism, which was on the wane, would also make a come back. “I wish it begins with Mana Telangana”, Mr. Rao said.
Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao requested the editorial team of the new newspaper headed by K. Srinivas Reddy to start a few columns as its USP to educate people on the resources and opportunities in Telangana State and rights and responsibilities of different sections of the society including the polity so that readers could develop an urge for such information.

He said there was a need to have more newspapers to protect and push the interests of Telangana as there were forces which were trying to unsettle the newly-born State when it was taking its initial steps forward. He assured that the government would extend all cooperation to newspapers which would have the interests of Telangana as their agenda.
Editor of Mana Telangana Mr. Srinivas Reddy thanked the CM for exempting the regulation of at least 18 months’ existence for issuing government advertisements for the newspaper. Responding to a request made by Mr. Reddy, the CM said he would soon have a meeting with Editors of newspapers to finalise the issue of health cards to working journalists.
