CM announced aid for her during his visit to East Godavari

Eco-friendly ride: Collector Kartikeya Misra trying out the electric car in Kakinada on Monday.

An 82-year-old woman from the city, Singam Raghavamma, met Collector Kartikaya Misra during the weekly grievance cell programme at the Collectorate here on Monday and thanked the government for sanctioning her a financial assistance of ₹1 lakh. Confirming that she had received the sum, she urged the Collector to sanction a house as promised by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Ms. Raghavamma got a chance to meet Mr. Naidu during his recent visit to the city and told him that there was no one to take care of her. Besides announcing an aid of ₹1 lakh, Mr. Naidu also promised a house to her in the city.

Responding to her plea, Mr. Misra asked the Commissioner of Kakinada Municipal Corporation to allocate a house to the aged woman on priority.

In all, 285 people from different parts of the district submitted their grievances and complaints to the Collector during the weekly programme. Most of them sought houses, house sites and employment, while a few others sought the intervention of the officials in property-related disputes. Forwarding the grievances to the departments concerned, the Collector asked the officials to address them at the earliest.

Electric vehicles soon

Later in the day, Mr. Misra himself drove an electric car from the Collectorate to his camp office and expressed satisfaction over its features. Electric cars would be used in all the government offices from Sankranthi and about 450 four-wheelers would hit the district roads by March.
