ED to question accused in jail from June 24 to 26

ED not yet been granted permission by the court to question Kadapa MP Jagan

The Enforcement Directorate will examine the accused other than Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy in Chanchalguda central jail on charges of money laundering from June 24 to 26.

The ED has not yet been granted permission by the court to question Mr. Jagan, whereas it received the nod in the case of suspended IAS officers B.P. Acharya and Y. Srilakshmi, former infrastructure special secretary K.V. Brahmananda Reddy, industrialists Nimmagadda Prasad and Koneru Prasad, ex-mines director V.D. Rajagopal, Mr. Jagan’s former aide N. Sunil Reddy and financial controller of Emaar MGF Land G. Venkata Vijay Raghav. Permission was not sought for ex-Minister Mopidevi Venkataramana.

Summons given

ED officials on Thursday reached out to all the nine accused in jail and handed over to them summons asking them to appear before them within the premises from June 24 to 26. The officials had on Wednesday served a notice on Jagan seeking to question him but the matter had to be taken up by the court before permission was given like others.

Meanwhile, the CBI court extended the judicial remand of Mopidevi Venkataramana, Nimmagadda Prasad and K.V. Brahmananda Reddy by video conference up to July 6. The hearing on the request of the CBI to conduct narco, polygraph and brain mapping tests on Mr. Jagan, which was scheduled on Thursday, has been adjourned to July 4.

Bail application

Mr. G. Venkata Vijay Raghav withdrew his bail application in the CBI court and filed the same in the High Court. His lawyers said the petition was withdrawn in view of the stalemate in the functioning of the court following the recent transfer of judges. On the other hand, Nimmagadda Prasad filed his bail application in the same court during the day.

Two Congress MLCs, Rayapati Srinivas and T.G.V. Krishna Reddy, called on Mopidevi Venkataramana in jail.
