Former Minister and YSR Congress general secretary Dharmana Prasada Rao “inaugurated” a new bridge, which was built between Collectorate and Ponnada village, causing uproar among TDP leaders.
He and his followers went to the bridge from 7Road junction and formally opened the bridge for the movement of vehicles. YSR Congress leaders claimed that Mr. Prasada Rao was instrumental in the construction of the bridge and that he had the right to inaugurate it, although the TDP is in power.
YSR Congress is strongly opposing inauguration of projects by TDP leaders saying that they could not bring the projects and works for Srikakulam town, but were ready for their inauguration.

YSR Congress media incharge Mandavilli Ravi defended the move and said people had accepted the “inauguration”.
Many TDP leaders thought that Mr. Prasada Rao and his followers went there for inspection, but the unofficial inauguration irked them.
Interestingly, senior TDP leaders, including Srikakulam MLA Gunda Lakshmi Devi, were not present in the town as they left for Tirupati to participate in Mahanadu. The “timing” helped YSR Congress leaders to claim the upper hand and to draw the attention of the public.

The bridge which was built with around Rs. 40 crore would provide connectivity to over one lakh people living in several villages of Srikakulam Rural and Etcherla mandals.
In fact, vehicular movement began a few days ago as the government is yet to arrange the official function.
