Delay raising doubt on Congress’s ‘T’ commitment: CPI

The delay in the formation of Telangana State is raising doubts over the commitment of the Congress to the issue, CPI leader S. Venkateswarlu has said.

He demanded that the Centre expedite the bifurcation process and bring the note before the Cabinet and introduce the Telangana Bill in the Parliament without further delay.

Venkateswarlu said the delay is taking toll on the functioning of the government machinery, as the State administration has been totally paralysed owing to the ongoing movements both in Telangana and Seemandhra regions.

With the Seemandhra agitation intensifying with each passing day, the Central government should intervene to clarify the doubts of Seemandhra people and resolve the issue at the earliest, he said.

The CPI leader also objected to the remarks made by Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy which had ‘reflected’ his biasness for one region of the State.

“The leaders particularly of the Congress should keep restraints while making statements which provoke people ,” he said, adding that the Centre, if it needs, should remove the Chief Minister and introduce the President’s rule in the State and then go ahead with the bifurcation process.

Mr. Venkateswarlu further said the apprehensions expressed by the Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy over river water sharing after bifurcation were silly as there were norms which would govern such issues.
