An abandoned, half-eaten carcass of a spotted deer was found near the Sri Venkateswara Vedic University campus in the early hours of Thursday, triggering suspicions of leopard movement in the area. In a similar incident last week, a calf and a stray dog were mauled by a leopard, leaving the carcasses on the compound wall of BIRRD Hospital.

Forest Department officials have intensified patrolling in areas, including Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences, Ruia General Hospital and S.V. Vedic University, that are on the fringes of Seshachalam forests. Meanwhile, Divisional Forest Officer G. Srinivasulu advised people not to venture out alone in the night, especially with pets.He added that steps were being taken to trap the animal or drive it back into the forest, so that it would not enter human habitations.
