From getting its tune in Madanapalle in 1919, Jana Gana Mana went on to become the national anthem of India.

According to K.S.S. Seshan, a renowned historian and a retired professor of history at Hyderabad Central University, the song was adopted as the national anthem by the Constituent Assembly of India at its meeting on 24 January 1950. “Two days later, India became a Republic and Jana Gana Mana was officially declared the national anthem”, says Prof. Seshan, who lived in Madanapalle in the past and had even taught at the same B.T. College for a brief period.
