A team of cyber crime police from Visakhapatnam is likely to leave for Jharkhand shortly, after the reported breach of data of South Coast Railway employees.
According to Cyber Crime Police Station Inspector V. Gopinath, data of thousands of employees in South Coast Railway is suspected to have been breached. The data includes payslips which have their name, bank account number, phone number, Aadhaar card number and a few others, which are private.
After registering case, the cyber crime police on Tuesday have started their investigation.

“We reckon that similar cases were reported in Madhya Pradesh also. As the calls apparently originated from Jharkhand, a team may leave. Further investigation is on,” said Mr Gopinath.
It may be recalled that on July 5, a fraudster called Mr. Eswara Rao, a junior engineer in SCoR, and claimed that he was calling from the accounts department. He told the JE that henceforth, salary statements would be uploaded into the mobile phones of the employees.
The caller then asked Mr. Eswara Rao to furnish his bank details and the latter obliged only to realise within minutes that ₹1 lakh had been siphoned off from his account. Police learnt that the fraudster called many employees, where the JE fell into his trap.

Police alerted all the employees and urged them to be careful.
