Daggubati is an opportunist: Naidu

Lakshmi Parvati also supporting YSRCP for power, he says

Chief Minister and TDP national president Chandrababu Naidu on Monday fired salvos at his co- brother Daggubati Venkateswara Rao, who was all set to join the YSR Congress Party. “He has a habit of switching loyalties. He crossed over to all political parties with an eye on power,” Mr. Naidu said during a teleconference with the party leaders.

Mr. Daggubati’s family siding with YSRC president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy was nothing but opportunistic politics. Dr. Rao joined hands with almost all parties whenever the situation seemed right. He rubbed shoulders with the RSS. He was in the Congress and crossed over to the BJP. In 2004, when Purandeswari was a Union minister in the Manmohan Singh-led UPA government, Dr. Rao was a party MLA. When the Congress lost power in 2014, the couple switched allegiance to the BJP, the Chief Minister pointed out.

Lakshmi Parvati was also supporting the YSR Congress for power. They used the image of TDP founder-president NT Rama Rao for their vested interests. Their opportunism was a blot on NTR’s fame and reputation. All opportunists were joining the YSR Congress. “It is time to expose their hollowness,” he said.

Saying Prime Minister Modi faced public resentment in Madurai, the Chief Minister said, “It reflects the ‘Mood of the Nation’.” The Tamilians greeted him with black flags protesting against his apathy after the Gaja cyclone. In fact, Mr. Modi caused more harm to Andhra Pradesh than Tamil Nadu. “ We have organised 11 Dharmaporata Deekshas to protest the injustice meted out to the State. The Dharmaporatam at Amaravati would be the last in the series, which would be attended by leaders of all national parties.”

The Chief Minister said pensions panduga would be organised on February 2, 3 and 4. The cadre must publicise that the government had increased the pension amount 10 times, he added.
