Municipal Administration Minister P. Narayana on Friday said 177 illegal layouts had sprung up in the last few months in the capital region in and around Thullur, Amaravathi and Mangalagiri.
The State government decided to crack the whip on illegal layouts in the backdrop of the demand from a section of land owners in Thullur who attributed the fall in land prices to the illegal layouts. Land prices which soared to Rs.1.60 crore an acre fell to Rs.1 crore. The illegal layouts prompted buyers to opt for small pieces of land for real estate ventures at cheaper prices, farmers rued.
The Minister along with Joint Collector Ch. Sridhar, Guntur Municipal Commissioner K. Kanna Babu, CRDA Additional Commissioner Chandradu, police and revenue officials supervised demolition of temporary structures, sheds and flag posts in 80 illegal layouts at Vaikuntapuram, Amaravathi, Dharanikota and Mutteyepalem along the Thullur-Amaravathi road. “We will soon place a list of authorised layouts on the CRDA website,” Mr. Narayana told reporters. He said there were 111 layouts in the temple town of Amaravathi alone followed by 44 in Thullur, 12 in Tadepalli and 11 in Mangalagiri.
