The Communist Party of India (CPI) has decided to mount pressure on the Central Government to clear apprehensions among the Seemandhra people relating to river water sharing, employment, sharing of natural resources and other areas in the process of bifurcation of the State.
CPI State secretary K. Narayana, however, reiterated that the party was committed to the creation of separate Telangana State and there was no scope for retracting from the stand. Dr. Narayana was interacting with representatives of Forum for Protection of Andhra Pradesh led by V. Lakshmana Reddy who called on him at Makhdoom Bhavan on Sunday. He explained the delegation about the debate the party undertook at different levels over the economic, social and political situation in the region before extending its support to the separate Telangana State. The forum members wanted the CPI leader to give an affidavit stating that his party was committed to bifurcation and that it would boycott the Group of Ministers that had been constituted by the Centre.
