A Division Bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court comprising Justice V. Eswariah and Justice K.G. Shankar on Friday directed the AP Public Service Commission (APPSC) not to issue final appointment letters to aspirants for the Group - II posts. The Bench made it clear that the interviews shall go on.
The case had arisen out of permission accorded for usage of eraser whitener fluids by some of the candidates during the written examination. The Bench was dealing with a writ petition filed by Kyalasa Rao and others. They filed application in AP Administrative Tribunal (APAT), contending that the APPSC prohibited use of pencils as erasers were being used and insisted on use of ball pens to answer the objective type questions.
They said many candidates had used whitener fluids, leading to malpractice. The APAT didn't stay the selection process though the case was admitted, after which the petitioners moved the High Court. After hearing J. Sudheer, counsel for the petitioners, the Bench asked for a report from APPSC about the marks obtained by the candidates who used the whitener fluids and stayed final appointments while making it clear that interviews may go on.

Justice Nooty Rama Mohan Rao directed the registry to place before the Chief Justice all papers pertaining to a contempt case involving an advocate. The Judge was dealing with a contempt case initiated against Sitaram Chaparla, the advocate, who wanted that his case be heard by another Bench. The Judge recorded the arguments made and requested the Chief Justice to take appropriate decision.
