Justice K.C. Bhanu of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh on Friday granted time to Y. Srilakshmi, an IAS officer and former Director of Mines V. D. Rajagopal to file their counter to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) seeking their custody for questioning in the case pertaining to alleged amassment of wealth by Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy.

It may be recalled that Ms. Srilakshmi, former Secretary of Industries & Commerce and Mr. Rajagopal, are now in jail and are shown as accused in the case filed against Gali Janardhan Reddy for illegal mining of iron ore.

The Central Bureau of Investigation filed a petition before the trial court seeking permission to question them in a case, wherein the allegations were made that during the tenure of the late Chief Minister Y.S Rajasekhara Reddy, different companies got undue favour, for which investments were in turn made into the business concerns of Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy.

Dismissed

The Special Court dismissed the petition and Central Bureau of Investigation moved the High Court that had earlier granted permission to the Central Bureau of Investigation to serve notices upon these two. On Wednesday, the counsel appearing for the two officers sought time to file counter. The case will be taken up after one week.
