‘Future of over 3,500 employees will be affected’

Seeking justice: Contract lecturers taking out a rally in Nellore on Friday.

The contract lecturers working at various government junior and degree colleges and polytechnics on Friday demanded that their long-standing services be regularised with immediate effect in recognition of their consistent contributions to the education sector.

They strongly opposed the proposed appointment of school teachers as junior lecturers by way of promotions.

The members of the Government Colleges’ Contract Lecturers’ Association took out a rally in support of their demand for regularisation among other things.

Association president K. Srinivas said that nearly 3,672 contract lecturers were working in the government junior colleges across the State and their future would be badly affected if government school teachers were given promotions as junior lecturers.

Mr. Srinivas recalled that the leaders of various political parties had promised regularisation of contract lecturers prior to 2014 elections and the same should be honoured now.
