Irate Congressmen locked up the office of the District Congress Committee as security personnel denied entry to former Union Minister Kotla Jayasuryaprakash Reddy into the public meeting venue addressed by AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi at Bandlapalli in Anantapur district.
Mr. Jayasuryaprakash Reddy returned to Kurnool in a huff after the SPG personnel stopped him despite showing his identity.
While Congress MLC M. Sudhakar Babu, who was inside the venue remained there, Kurnool DCC president B.Y. Ramaiah and other party men returned to Kurnool. Mr. Ramaiah condemned the “adamant attitude” of the SPG personnel towards a senior party leader.

On being informed about the incident, APCC president N. Raghuveera Reddy was said to have checked the list with the security personnel wherein Mr. Jayasuryaprakash Reddy’s name figured as KJSP Reddy.
The APCC chief tried to call Mr. Jayasuryaprakash Reddy on his mobile, but he did not respond. Mr. Raghuveera Reddy was said to have called Mr. Ramaiah to tell him that he would visit Kurnool in a couple of days and hold discussions with Mr. Jayasuryaprakash Reddy in a bid to pacify him. On knowing about the incident, the irate Congressmen locked up the DCC office on Tuesday night. The office remained closed on Wednesday also. Meanwhile, Mr. Jayasuryaprakash Reddy told newsmen at Laddagiri that he was hurt by the “shabby treatment” of the SPG personnel. He, however, denied speculation that he planned to quit the Congress.
