The Congress will regain power in 2014 elections, Minister for Endowments C. Ramachandraiah asserted on Wednesday.

Addressing a press conference, he accused Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu of “day-dreaming” about gaining power, particularly after undertaking a padayatra. However, surveys revealed that the TDP would fail to win even one-third of the Assembly seats and would be relegated to the third position, the Minister said.

YSR Congress president Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy was nurturing dreams from the jail barracks that his party would romp home, Mr. Ramachandraiah remarked. The people were realising the atrocities of YSRC and hence it came third in panchayat elections, he said.

Mr. Naidu, who ruled the State for nine years, ruined the Panchayat Raj set up and the Congress was striving to put it back on track, he said. Despite internal bickering and anti-establishment vote, the Congress was strong enough to regain power, he maintained adding that the Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy was implementing several innovative schemes.

Mr. Ramachandraiah and Minister for Minority Welfare Mohd. Ahmedullah asserted that they were in favour of Samaikyandhra but would abide by any decision taken by the Congress high command.
