Congress will form government in Telangana: DS

April 16, 2014 10:05 pm | Updated May 21, 2016 11:42 am IST - NIZAMABAD:

Former APCC president and MLC, D. Srinivas has asserted that Congress would form the Government in the new State of Telangana by winning 70 seats in the 119 member Assembly.

“TRS will draw a blank in Khammam, Nalgonda, Greater Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy and Mahabubnagar. In North Telangana Congress will get maximum number of seats and it is impossible for TRS to secure majority and form the Government,” he said at a press conference here on Wednesday.

Ridiculing K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s claim that his party alone would do justice to all sections of the society in Telangana, he wondered as to how it could be possible as the equal justice norm was not followed while giving tickets. He [Mr Rao] gave tickets only to those who ditched Telangana movement and also unleashed a reign of terror against agitators, he said.

People were aware that it was Sonia Gandhi who had ensured Telangana and also believed that over all development of the region would be possible only through Congress, he said adding that the party election manifesto was so framed that it accorded due importance to Telangana martyr families, youth and oppressed sections.

To provide employment to youth separate banks were being constituted in the name of Youth Banks and martyr families would be rescued with a corpus of Rs.100 crore. Besides, each family would be provided with one Government job, said Mr. Srinivas denying the allegation that his party Government would dance to the whims and fancies of Seemandhra capitalist politicians.

To a question he made it clear that he was not in the race for Chief Ministership.
