Even as the Centre promised to take a decision on Telangana issue by this month-end, Congress on Wednesday steered clear of questions on the subject.
“Please do not link the issue of creation of separate States (in other parts) with that of Telangana. It creates misunderstanding in Andhra Pradesh”, party spokesman Rashid Alvi told reporters noting that it was a “sensitive” matter.
A section of Telangana leaders feel the demand is unlikely to be conceded by the Congress.

Senior leader from the State, K. Keshava Rao had created a flutter on Sunday by saying that he did not trust his party to concede separate Telangana at the end of the deadline that it had set for it following an all-party meeting on the statehood issue in New Delhi on December 28.
He had even alleged that the all-party meeting was “bogus” as the demand would not get resolved at such fora. The meeting was convened to tide over a crisis when Congress MPs from Telangana threatened to abstain from voting in Lok Sabha on foreign direct investment.
Congress MPs from Telangana region would meet in Hyderabad on January 4 to decide the future course of action to make the Centre take a favourable decision on the statehood issue.
