The wait for homecoming of engineers Prateesh Chandra and Raghu from Nagaland continued on Wednesday as their release was mired in uncertainty in the absence of authentic information on their whereabouts.
The news of their release emerged on Tuesday evening but their families still appear to be in the dark about their safety.
Mr. Chandra and his colleague were abducted at Dimapur shortly before they boarded a train to Vijayawada on July 27 night and phone contact has since been cut off after they could just convey the shocking news of their kidnap by suspected militants.

The State government officials, who got in touch with their counterparts in Nagaland, confirmed on Tuesday that the engineers were being released but there is no final word yet on that. Mr. Chandra’s brother Jagadeesh said his family was not aware of what the actual situation is while the government claimed to make efforts for safe release of the engineers.
Families of the engineers kept their fingers crossed as three days have lapsed after the kidnap took place.

Police Commissioner B. Sreenivasulu told The Hindu that he was trying to ascertain whether the engineers were actually released and if it was true, where they were headed. He was speaking to the police officers concerned in Nagaland but there was no clarity.
