Confined woman rescued

In a shocking incident, a 25-year-old woman was illegally confined by a financier after her husband, Dasari Subbaiah, failed to repay loan he had taken from the financier here on Thursday.

The woman and her brother were standing near a hotel at Bandlamitta here when the financier, S.Venkat Rao, came with three men and abused her and her husband, an autorickshaw driver, for not clearing the dues. Then, they whisked her away and confined her in the financier's office. The Special Branch police, on being alerted, rushed to the spot and freed the woman, Superintendent of Police K. Raghuram Reddy said. Ongole Cirlce Inspector K. Prakasa Rao said Subbaiah had taken a loan of Rs.10,000 and also stood as guarantor for loans taken by some of his relatives and friends. The financier had taken Subbaiah's signature on a stamp paper stating that Rs.40,000 was due from him, he added.

Police are on the look-out for the financier .
