‘Committed to welfare of tenant farmers’

Those having LECs disbursed loan

The State government would reach out to 14 lakh tenant farmers by disbursing loans to them, Deputy Chief Minister K.E. Krishnamurthy asserted on Tuesday. The government was committed to their welfare, he added.

A plan had been formulated to disburse loans of ₹300 crore to 5,000 of the 19,500 tenant farmers in the first phase in 2017-18 in the district, Mr. Krishnamurthy said. Mr. Krishnamurthy and district Collector S. Satyanarayana disbursed loan of ₹20,000 to each of the 139 tenant farmers possessing the loan eligibility cards (LEC) at the District Cooperative Central Bank.

Seed project

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu would lay the foundation stone for a mega seed project at Thangadancha on October 9, Mr. Krishnamurthy said. House warming was performed for one lakh dwellings on October 2 and mementos were presented to sarpanches that had been declared ODF, he added.

Loans would be disbursed to tenant farmers through 99 Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies in the district, said DCCB chairman M. Mallikarjuna Reddy. Farmers possessing loan eligibility cards and documentary proof of cultivation would be assisted on the Chief Minister’s directions, he added.

Stating that tenant farmers facing difficulties due to lack of bank loans were being assisted, Mr. Satyanarayana said the government was determined to assist them.

Developmental works

Proposals had been sent to the Centre to undertake developmental works with an outlay of ₹186 crore through the ICDP Phase II, the Collector said.
