Officials, trust board members asked to work in unison

With controversies surrounding Sri Durga Malleswara Swamyvarla Devasthanam during the Dasara festival, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu took a serious view of it.

Expressing his displeasure over the unsavoury developments, including protocol gaffe, Mr. Naidu asked the temple trust board members and officials to focus their attention on the festival.

Coming down on the trust board, the Chief Minister said that controversies were hitting the headlines rather the celebrations. The trust board members and party leaders were crossing the line of control. Action would be taken if they don’t mend their ways, he said.

‘Coordinate efforts’

The officials and trust board members would have to work in unison and see that the celebrations ended in a right manner and the devotees were not put to hardship, he added.

Kanaka Durga temple Trust Board Chairman Y. Gouranga Babu is said to have got a telephonic message from the CM’s office in this regard.

Protocol issue

It may be recalled that the alleged protocol gaffe marred seventh day of Dasara festivities at the Kanaka Durga temple on Tuesday

Vijayawada (Central) MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao, who is also Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Board member, was upset over the presentation of silk robes to the presiding deity goddess Kanaka Durga.

Bitter experience

In another development, Mr. Gouranga Babu had a bitter experience as Temple Executive Officer V. Koteswaramma reportedly asked him to go in VIP queue line when he arrived at the temple along with his family members. He was irked at this incident.
