Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday said the Telugu Desam Party’s commendable performance in the Nandyal by-election and the Kakinada Municipal Corporation election was due to the good governance delivered by the ruling dispensation and he would duly attribute it to the sincere efforts made by the administrative machinery in implementing the development and welfare schemes.

“People reposed their confidence in us (TDP) as we did our best, and wish to maintain the streak of good performance, for which your cooperation is essential,” Mr. Naidu told Collectors at the 13th Collectors’ Conference here on Wednesday.

The Chief Minister said the government officers and employees would be permanently in the saddle once they get recruited, “but it is mandatory for us (political parties) to seek the people’s mandate every five years.”

“It is only those parties which achieve the highest public satisfaction on a sustained basis that will win elections. No matter how much development you do, people will not be happy unless their welfare is taken care of.

“This is where the officials play a crucial role. We hope to receive your wholehearted support,” he observed in his introductory remarks of the two-day conference.
