Chittoor district Additional Superintendent of Police G.R. Radhika created a record by scaling Mount Elbrus, the highest mountain in Russia and in Europe, and the tenth most prominent peak in the world, on September 8.
Radhika is the first Indian woman to scale the 18,550 ft Mt. Elbrus, a dormant volcano in Caucasus region in Southern Russia.
Instead of opting for the regular southern route to the mountain, Ms. Radhika achieved her target by scaling from the highly treacherous northern flanks. She would be returning to India on Wednesday.

Radhika had earlier scaled Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world, in May 2016, and became the first Indian woman police officer accomplishing the feat. In August 2016, she scaled Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa.
In March this year, Ms. Radhika scaled Mount Kosciusko, the highest peak in Australia, besides holding nine other peaks in Australia.
Senior police officers here said that the woman police officer has plans to scale four other highest peaks in the world to complete the Seven Summit Challenge. Between 2013-15, Radhika scaled Mounts Golepkangri, Menthosa and Kun in India.

Ms. Radhika cleared the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) in 2001 and joined service as a lecturer and later got selected as Deputy Superintendent of Police in 2007.
She also served as Assault commander in Greyhounds, the elite anti-Naxal force.
Grand welcome
Speaking to The Hindu , Chittoor SP S.V. Rajasekhar Babu said that the district police would be organising a grand welcome to Ms Radhika on her return to India.
“She has made India and A.P. police very proud,” the SP said.
