Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said his government aimed at supplying water to every inch of the land in the State so that the tears of farmers could be wiped off for ever.

Launching the Neeru-Chettu programme at Kotekal in Kurnool district on Saturday, he said rain water harvesting, improvement in ground water level, conservation practices and adoption of modern farm methods like drip irrigation would help achieve this objective.

Mr. Naidu said he would take up the water mission with a religious zeal as he strongly believed that water alone would bring prosperity to farmers in special and society at large.

He wanted the rural people to stay away from faction violence saying it robbed them of peace and development while it helped factionists to extort money from contractors. The extortions were denting and diluting the government works and programmes. Mr Naidu reiterated his strong desire to bring back the glory of Rayalaseema through development process. Later Mr. Naidu visited the proposed site for Textile Park and promised to complete it early. He said weavers would be supported in multiple ways by enhancing their skill, offering employment in the apparel park and providing marketing support through revival of sale of handloom products at 50 per cent price.

At Borabanda he made an unscheduled halt and promises toilets for all households within a fortnight and assistance to a sick person under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

Mr. Naidu reserved his evening for a function marking the 400{+t}{+h}day of Telugu film “Legend” starring his brother in-law Balakrishna and stayed at R and B Guest House for the night. Deputy Chief Minister K.E. Krishna Murthy, Yemmiganur MLA Jayanageswara Reddy, Banaganapalli MLA B.C. Janardhan Reddy and others were present.
